Between 2020 and 2021, demand for freelance web design increased by 31%, according to Gili Malinsky’s post on the Grow website.

According to an Upwork survey of 6,000 U.S. workers, more than a third (36%) of the U.S. workforce was freelancing in 2021. And the trend will continue: More over half of non-freelancers (56%) believe they will do so in the future.

From January to October 2021, Upwork created a list of the most in-demand IT skills on its platform. Here are five of them, along with their price scales.

Web design

Web design was the most in-demand skill on the list, with demand increasing by 31% between 2020 and 2021.

Freelance web designers on Upwork charge $16 to $100 per hour.

WordPress development

Many companies want to use WordPress platform to build their own websites, and anyone who knows how to use it is in high demand.

On Upwork, developers charge between $16 and $120 per hour.

Web programming

Demand for web programming and development has increased by 43% year over year.

Web programmers on Upwork charge $10 to $135 per hour.

Creating a Shopify store

Shopify is a well-known e-commerce platform. Experts at Shopify assist clients in creating, customizing, and optimizing their online store.

On Upwork, Shopify professionals charge between $10 and $285 per hour.

Graphic design

Graphic designers who create logos, website design, brochure, layouts, and graphics for various media on Upwork charge between $12 and $130 per hour.

As you can see, the difference between the minimum and maximum price is large. So you need to know how to determine your price per hour.

– In annual earnings, freelancers contributed $1.3 trillion to the US economy, up $100 million from 2020
