This is how remote work can save company culture

In 1964, Arthur C. Clarke said that it will be possible in the future to work for a certain company while living on the completely opposite side of the planet. And while many have doubted his words for decades, that’s exactly what’s happening today – remote work and freelancing business. Experts worldwide have realized that remote work is now saving company culture, but many are not sure in which ways, claims Matt Redler in his article. Here is how it’s happening:

Executives are a little bit scared of all those freelancers and remote work

Executives in many countries simply still don’t want to leave their offices, being afraid that working remotely can affect worker’s social life. Yet, that’s not happening – today, with all those social media channels and online meeting platforms, remote workers actually communicate more than regular 9 to 5 office workers.

Executives also say that workers are not always present at the moment they need them and add that they don’t hang out together after work. But we should focus on how the remote should look, not on empowering its downs.

Here’s how ideal remote work culture can and will look like

Because more and more workers are going remote, especially Millennials, there’s a need to constantly think about improving the remote work culture. Freelancers from different parts of the globe together with the executives and clients should focus on caring about the output, and not about the hours of work, which means focusing on productivity and the end goal.

Freelancers also claim that they don’t like working under tracking apps because those mostly bring a lot of pressure. Instead of that, it’s better to focus on building a culture of documentation.

Besides all this being mentioned, it’s also a great idea to be focused on relationship-building, instead of forcing remote workers to hang out in real life after work, as it’s usually done when working in the office from 9 to 5. Nowadays team building must go hand in hand with technology and respect for freelancers’ individual ways of life.
